Wanted to go diving today but the weather is not cooperating. But that's nothing new, over the last year the winds have really been blowing a lot. It is normally hit or miss during the winter down here anyway, with the winds usually picking up and the calm smooth days becoming few and far between. Today there are small craft warnings and it is just too rough to sit out on the reef in a small boat. A cold front has just passed through, temperatures got down in the upper 30s the other night. That's as cold as it gets down here and we don't see temperatures like that very often, in fact that may have been a record cold for January in Key Largo. But the cold front has passed and a high pressure system is sitting over us now bringing winds from the east at 18 to 20 mph. I want the winds below 15mph before I will consider a trip to the reef and I actually would prefer the winds to be below 10 mph. The good news is that it will get back up to around 80 today, so we are back to normal there anyway. So, I guess I will work around the house today.
Here are a few pictures from last weekend diving.
